Fix your Sleep problem now …

Back & joint pain

A firmer, supported night’s sleep

When a mattress is too soft or worn out, your hips and lower back sink out of line — so your spine spends the whole night slightly bent. That’s what leaves you stiff and aching in the morning.

What actually helps

  • Medium-firm to firm, orthopaedic support that holds your hips level and your spine aligned
  • A cushioned comfort layer so shoulders and hips aren’t pressured
  • Hand-tufted layers that keep their shape and won’t sag into dips

Sleep problem questions

What is the best mattress for back pain?

For most people, a medium-firm mattress with orthopaedic support and a cushioned comfort layer: it keeps the spine level without putting pressure on the hips and shoulders. Our back-support range starts with Memory Ortho. If pain carries on, please speak to your GP.

Which mattress sleeps the coolest?

Pocket-sprung mattresses with natural fillings sleep cooler than solid foam, because air moves through the springs and wool and cotton wick moisture away. IceCool is built for hot sleepers, with a summer side and a winter side.

How do I stop my partner waking me when they move?

Choose individually pocketed springs, which absorb movement on one side before it reaches the other, and a bigger size if your room allows: a king is 15cm wider than a double.

Are your mattresses suitable for allergies?

Many of our mattresses carry an anti-bacterial or hypoallergenic treatment, listed on each mattress page, and our hypoallergenic range adds breathable natural fillings. They support cleaner sleep but aren’t a medical treatment.
